Primary Elections

Primary elections are elections within a political party to determine who will be the party’s candidate in the general election. Only those voters who have registered with the party may vote in a party’s primary election.   To enroll in a party or change your party affiliation, you would need to file a new voter registration form with the Suffolk County Board of Elections and, if the change is not yet recorded on the poll book when you go to vote, you should ask for an affidavit ballot.  The following primary elections are scheduled for 2024:

Presidential Primary: April 2, 2024

Primary: June 25, 2024
