Voting & Election Information in New York State

SPECIAL ELECTION FOR SOUTHAMPTON TOWN COUNCIL:  March 18

  • March 8 – last day to postmark voter registration form or register in person at BOE
  • March 8 – 16:  Early Voting

GENERAL ELECTION – NOVEMBER 4, 2025

  • Oct. 25– last day to postmark voter registration form or register in person at BOE
  • Saturday, Oct. 25 – Sunday, Nov. 2 – early voting
  • Oct. 25 – last day to postmark application for absentee ballot
  • Nov. 4– last day to submit absentee ballot for general election in person
  • Nov. 4– last day to postmark ballot for general election

NOTE: IF YOU SUBMIT A REQUEST FOR AN ABSENTEE BALLOT, YOU MAY NOT VOTE IN PERSON AT A POLLING SITE EVEN IF YOU HAVE NOT RETURNED YOUR BALLOT.  

Early Voting

You may vote at your regular polling site on  November 5th or at any early voting site in Suffolk County during early voting from Saturday, October 25th through Sunday, November 2nd.

      • Early election sites in our area have included the following, but the Board of Elections has not yet confirmed that they will be the same for 2025.

Primary Elections

Primary elections are elections within a political party to determine who will be the party’s candidate in the general election. Only those voters who have registered with the party may vote in a party’s primary election.   To enroll in a party or change your party affiliation, you would need to file a new voter registration form with the Suffolk County Board of Elections and, if the change is not yet recorded on the poll book when you go to vote, you should ask for an affidavit ballot.  The following primary elections are scheduled for 2024:

Primary: June 24, 2024

  • June 14– last day to postmark voter registration form or register in person at BOE
  • Saturday, June 14 – Sunday, June 22 – early voting
  • June 24– last day to submit absentee ballot for primary election in person
  • July 7 – last day to postmark ballot for primary  election

Early voting sites and times have not yet been posted by the Board of Elections.
